Helping First Nations Youth in Victoria, BC

KidzFirst Canada Partners with the Victoria Native Friendship SocietyOn the heals of our 1st annual Give it Up 4 Kidz Challenge KidzFirst Canada is pleased to announce a $500 donation to the Victoria Native Friendship Society after-school program.

This donation will support 12 youth in joining an 8 week after school program. Here they will learn critical life skills, mentor others, and become empowered in their community.

From the Victoria Native Friendship Society

The Victoria Native Friendship Centre is very excited to announce a new funding partnership with Kidzfirst.  Kidzfirst is generously supporting the RAVE Cultural Youth Centre, with this funding the VNFC Youth Department will be able to support Culturally competent programming for Urban Aboriginal Youth. We are so grateful for this funding and look forward to working together with Kidzfirst to provide safe and Child Centred programs for youth on the Traditional Territory of the Coast Salish Peoples.  Hych’ka

Pink Shirt Day 2016

CKNW Orphans’ Fund Official Pink Shirt Day

Wednesday February 24, 2016 is CKNW Orphans’ Fund Official Pink Shirt Day, a day in support of kindness and acceptance, and against bullying. At KidzFirst Canada we are big supporters of everything Pink Shirt Day stands for.  You may see a lot of people wearing pink tomorrow and buying a Pink T-shirt at London Drugs is one way you can help, but there are others:

  • Donate online by visiting
  • #PinkItForward: On February 24th, 2016, Coast Capital Savings will donate $1 for every use of the hashtag up to $45,000 to support anti-bullying programs. To participate post a photo of someone special on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter on February 24th: a friend, teammate, colleague, family member, classmate or even someone you’ve just met. Then add a caption describing why that person is awesome, and instruct them to  and spread the kindness! You can use these examples:Twitter: I #PinkItForward to [tag your friend] for [reason why they’re special]. Now it’s your turn! #PinkShirtDayInstagram or Facebook: For #PinkShirtDay, I’m helping to put an end to bullying by spreading kindness. I #PinkItForward to [tag your friend] for [reason why they’re special]. Now it’s your turn!
  • Can’t wear a pink t-shirt at work? Buy a Pink Shirt Day pin at London Drugs.
  • Download the posters, print and hang them up at your school or work and share with everyone what is going on for Pink Shirt Day.

Give it Up 4 Kidz Challenge!

By News No Comments
Give it for Kidz Challenge Board MembersEvery day there are young people that go without an opportunity to experience, succeed, taste or reach their goals of empowerment. Everyday young people all over Canada face unimaginable challenges, are bullied, told they can’t, or make sacrifices.
From February 15th-29th KidzFirst Canada Board Members are going to experience a small fraction of what it means for vulnerable youth to go with out, and face tough situations.  For a two week period the KidzFirst Canada Board Members have chosen specific challenges that they will either give up something routine & important in their lives and/or do something that they have not done before that is out of their comfort zone.
This is a small token of understanding and sacrifice that can’t measure up to the day to day  challenges vulnerable youth endure , but we are hoping you will join the KidzFirst Canada “Give it Up 4 Kidz! Challenge” by donating online, or on behalf of a Board Member by clicking here.
Money raised will go to supporting existing and new after-school and vulnerable youth initiatives all over Canada!
Won’t you take the KidzFirst Canada Give it Up 4 Kidz Challenge, help us make a difference in a young person’s life!

Thank you from KidzFirst Canada
